Ten years of Mexican Folk Culture in Yonkers
From initial field work and presentation by folklorist Marion Jacobson in 1998-2000, the Mexican initiative grew to a full day long annual festival produced in collaboration with the Untermyer Performing Arts Council and held each spring at Untermyer Park in North Yonkers.
Featured performers have included the Tierra Nortenña band, Semilla ensemble of Son Jarocho and Son Huasteca music and dance, Ballet Espiritu de Mexico, Telpochalli Children’s dance group and Ballet Estampas Folkloricas Mexicanas.
