2007 Folk Arts Programs
Raag Bhava Taal Bhog: Arts of India, April 2007
This two day event featured the full range of Indian arts being practiced and taught in our communities. The title of the project means “melody, expression, rhythm and taste” and we strove to present all four, with master performances by eight leading teaching artists in the Indian community, workshops, displays and delicious foods of India provided by the Rangoli Restaurant of New Rochelle. We worked with community curator Kalindi Patel and the India Center of Elmsford to reach out to artists and draw audiences. This program was supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, received in collaboration with Long Island Traditions.
