Artists Supporting Israel a/k/a (ASI), seeks artists who will create original art work with a message of support for Israel’s right to exist in peace and security. In order to participate, artists will be required to listen to at least one of the two (2) educational components listed below. Artists will then create original art work in response to the message they hear. This project’s aim is to create art work which supports the right of Israel to exist. Artists are invited to use the lectures as inspiration to create new art work in an array of media. The theme may be broadly interpreted from an activist, political or personal context to connect to the viewer. The Juried show will be held in New York City at the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale.

We are looking for an excellent illustrator or fine artist for a paid position. The project will require that you produce a number of illustrations with either pen and ink or acrylic paint mediums.

We are looking for a person who can do realistic portraits and landscapes, and also some stylized cartoons and images. All drawings will be black and white. Over the course of the project you will be assigned various topics and subjects. This is a production gig, so you should be able to produce these illustrations in a timely manner.

Experience with printmaking techniques such as etching, linoleum cutting, wood carving, and more is a major plus. Additional advantages would include experience in 3D art and sculpture, as well as tattoo art.

The majority of this work will be done in studio, so it’s required that candidates be located in Westchester County or be willing to commute here. This is seasonal work that will go from May to September, with plenty of opportunities for further work to continue.

If interested, please respond with samples of your artwork, your location, and any other information you feel may be relevant. When responding, you must include a resume and a portfolio, or pictures of your work. Also indicate how many hours a week you can contribute.
For eight weeks (June 8 thru August 31, 2013) a group of upto 8 artists will be given the opportunity to present an in-depth presentation of their portfolio of work at The Gallery at Media Loft, New Rochelle, NY. The Media Loft Gallery committee will be selecting up to 5 pieces from each artist that best exibits that artists’ vision.

Our emphasis will be on a unified vision and a commitment to excellence of presentation. All photographic expressions are encouraged. If the image was first created via sensitometry we are interested. If created completely via the computer we are not.
An Alternative Space for Artists
Media Loft, founded in 1978, was established to provide a unique working environment for artists, designers, craftsmen and a variety of art-related businesses. In 1983 it moved to its present site in the historic Knickerbocker Press building complex and in 2003 it converted to a condominium to create affordable live-work space for its artist community.
The Gallery at Media Loft has been established to provide exhibit space for its Artists in Residence as well as for artists from the community and beyond. We are committed to quality exhibits, providing guidance to new artists for installations, promotional opportunities and, in general, how to bring their work to public attention.

Our workshops are uniquely interactive, intense musical experiences. Each participant joins a small ensemble that is guided by a member of The Western Wind. Participants sing an intriguing selection of music that might include Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Early American, 19th and 20th century part-songs, rounds, hymns and folk-songs, jazz, pop, improvisations and more! The Western Wind addresses each singer’s individual development, fostering growth in skill and accomplishment. Because the ensembles are formed based on musical skills, the workshop is open to singers at all levels – professionals and amateurs, soloists and ensemble performers, conductors and music teachers.
What makes the Western Wind workshop unique is the focus on small ensembles, where everyone makes an essential contribution as an individual singer. Most of the day is spent in small groups, working on a variety of a Capella repertoire.
Requirements: Since there are groups at every level from advanced to beginner, you’ll be placed in a group where you’ll feel comfortable. Ability to match pitch and carry a tune is essential, and at least a small amount of choral experience is desirable. If you’re not certain whether you meet these requirements, please give us a call at 800-788-2187 or email us at workshops@westernwind.org.

All artists within the New York Metropolitan Area, including New York City, Connecticut and New Jersey, at any stage in their artistic careers are encouraged to email submissions of work completed in the 2006 to 2012 calendar years to the New Rochelle Council on the Arts for the exhibition entitled FREEDOM! A 150-Year Commemoration of the Emancipation Proclamation.

The theme of the exhibition, freedom and the pursuit of freedom, is an opportunity for artists to interpret a basic right in a broad context. Although the exhibit celebrates the January 1, 1863 signing by President Abraham Lincoln of the Emancipation Proclamation, we invite the artists to explore themes of freedom in everyday life, on the national front and in the global community. Submissions that do not meet the criteria of the theme, freedom, will not be considered.

Accepted work will be exhibited at the NRCA Rotunda Gallery from February 19 through March 31, 2013. All original two- and three-dimensional wall-hung work, in all media, not to exceed a hanging weight of 30 lbs., will be accepted for review as long as they meet all requirements; no free-standing works will be eligible for acceptance.
Performance Opportunity for Talented Children in your Community!

Ajkun Ballet Theatre, a New York City based professional ballet company, invites children of Westchester County, grades Pre-K – 8, to participate in our 2013 production of La Fille Mal Gardée. Children partake in rehearsals of dance or theater (child’s choice, divided by age) at a local venue taught by AjkunBT’s Professional Artists on Saturdays throughout March and April. In April participants perform alongside artists of Ajkun Ballet Theatre in this heart warming classic; La Fille Mal Gardée. AjkunBT’s Staff is committed to making this experience a unique and enjoyable one for all children, with or without previous training.

Registration is limited. A suggested donation of $35 for your child’s participation will help cover the cost of instructor’s transportation to and from New Rochelle.
